Tocco Studio creates hand knit felted vessels and objects. Founder Laura Berkowitz Gilbert delights in the process that takes a loosely knit object and transforms it into a dense semi-sturdy vessel.

Tocco means "touch" in Italian. Touching felt is a wonderful sensation—its tactile nature, its softness, how it feels in your hand, the malleability of its structure. Its slight 'lumpiness' liberates it from the symmetry of other media and creates a beautiful imperfection.

While patterns have been created for each shape, the process of hand knitting and then felting is so singular, that each piece varies slightly from the others, making each vessel unique. Truly magical!
