Japanese Indigo (Persicaria tinctoria or Polygonum tinctorium) seeds harvested in 2025 ready to plant in the spring of 2026.
Japanese indigo seeds are easy to grow - either start them indoors about 6 weeks before the last frost or direct sow them once the threat of frost is done. Depending on when they are planted, you may get two to three harvest of leaves during the season.
Use them fresh for a quick extraction yielding a lovely turquoise color, try tatakizome (flower pounding) with fresh leaves or dry them and try a pigment extraction to get the rich indigo blue.
Each pack contains over 150 seeds.
